How to Change the Brake on In-Line Skates

Until you learn how to T-stop like the pros, replace your worn brake regularly to avoid injury and other skating mishaps.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • In-line Skate Axles
  • In-line Skate Spacers
  • In-line Skate Wheels
  • In-line Skates
  • In-line Skating Gear
  • In-line Skating Helmets
  • In-line Skating Protective Gear Sets
  • Allen Wrenches
  • Screwdriver Sets
  1. Step 1

    Use a screwdriver or an Allen wrench to remove the bolt(s) from the old brake and set it aside.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the old brake from the skate.

  3. Step 3

    Place the new brake into position.

  4. Step 4

    Secure the new brake with the bolt(s).

Tips & Warnings
  • The frequency with which you need to replace your brake depends on your weight and skating habits.
  • Make sure to replace your brake when it is worn down to the "wear-line" - a mark on the brake that indicates when it is low. If the pad wears down past the wear-line, you may damage the actual brake assembly.
