Take six index cards and write the name of a different color on each one. Use the colors red, cyan, green, yellow, magenta and lavender (note that the colors have 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 letters respectively).
Step2
Arrange the 6 cards face-up randomly on a table.
Step3
Ask for a volunteer from your audience.
Step4
Ask the volunteer to choose a color but not to point to it or say it out loud.
Step5
Ask the volunteer to spell the color in his or her head as you point randomly to the cards. Each time you point to a card, the volunteer should think of the next letter in the color.
Step6
Ask the volunteer to say "stop" when he or she finishes spelling the color.
Step7
The first 2 cards you point to can be any color.
Step8
Point to red for the third letter, blue for the fourth letter, green for the fifth letter and so on until the volunteer finishes spelling.
Step9
When the volunteer says "stop," you'll be pointing to his or her color.
Tips & Warnings
One of the most important rules of magic is to never reveal how a trick is performed. If you do, your audience will be disappointed, and everyone you know will start doing your trick.
