Step 1
Discuss alteration costs when you purchase the dress.

Follow the salon's suggestions for fittings. Most will have you in for at least two before the wedding.

Discuss with the seamstress the length and style you want before anything is cut or altered.

Show up for your fittings relaxed and somewhat put together.

Bring your wedding (or comparable) shoes every time so you have a realistic measurement of length.

Avoid wearing makeup that might end up on your wedding dress during the fitting.

on 3/11/2009 A properly fitted wedding gown does not need undergarments. Bra cups are attached to the gown eliminating the need to wear a bra. Unless you are more than 5'5 inches there is no need for an extra crinoline slip. When the gown is shortened it will eliminate the need to push the hem out wider. Sexy panties and shoes is all you will need on your wedding day.

on 11/22/2005 Make sure to tell the tailor if something doesn't feel or look right. You deserve to feel very confident about the dress you are paying for. If you aren't good at being forthright, bring a sister or friend that can help get your point across.

on 11/22/2005 Make sure you bring the undergarments that you are going to wear on the day of your wedding. Bring a couple different style bras or other garments. They can really alter the way a dress is going to fit you.
