Things You'll Need:
- Strollers
- Snacks
- Chidren's Toys
- Infant/toddler Toys
- Snacks
-
Step 1
Call ahead of time and ask whether you can bring a baby or child along when meeting with a friend. Assure your friend that if the child starts to act up, you'll take him or her home.
-
Step 2
Prepare your child for the outing. Make sure he or she is well rested to avoid crankiness and restlessness, and if he or she is old enough to understand, go over rules of proper behavior before you leave the house. If you are going to the market, do so after you have fed your child a snack.
-
Step 3
Pack distractions like toys or food and distribute them as necessary.
-
Step 4
Plan for your child's sleeping habits. Can you borrow a friend's bed? Will your child fall asleep in a stroller?
-
Step 5
Take your child to restaurants that cater to young children, if you can. Many restaurants supply high chairs along with paper, crayons and games to distract them.
-
Step 6
Ask where you can go to change and feed your baby, whether you are in a public place or a friend's home.
-
Step 7
When the day is done, praise your child for a successful outing.

on 3/2/2009 Crazy Ace--You would be surprised what people do not know! It may seem common sense, but a lot of people seem to lacking in just that. I read an article that written completely tongue-in-cheek (or maybe not) about how people should licensed to be parents because it is the toughest job in the world given to a large number of unqualified people. It's something to think about.

on 6/24/2008 Many people cannot leave their children at home because they are a single parent, have no other family, husband or wife at work, etc. I think that if a friend cannot accept that you want to bring your child then they are no friend at all. In case your friend has planned an event that requires children not to attend they should let you know way in advance so you can attempt to find a sitter. And as some wise person said above "kids will be kids!" You shouldn't have to worry about taking your kids with you when you go somewhere.

on 11/22/2005 Don't be afraid to take your child out. Kids will be kids. As they experience frequent outings, kids become more comfortable in public and tend to behave properly, as taught.
