Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Make a normal fist by curling your fingers and tucking your fingertips against the middle of your palm.
Step2
Rest your thumb over your curled index finger and middle finger, rather than placing your thumb within the fist.
Step3
Make sure that the tip of your thumb points downward, resting against the upper knuckles of both your index and middle fingers.
Step4
Hold your hands in a relaxed position even as you throw a punch. Tighten your fist at the precise moment of contact.
Step5
Relax your fist as soon as you pull back from the punch.
Step6
Remember that clenching your fist only at the point of impact conserves energy that your body may need in other aspects of boxing.

on 11/2/2007 ok. all this seems common sence. The question is where exactly do you place the tips of your fingers on the palm? If I put the tips of my fingers on the pads of my upper palm, ''where calluses usually form'' then it hurts the joints in my fingers when I hit something heavy. I think the most comfortable way to do this is to place the fingertips right under the pads of the upper palm, almost concealing them inside of your fist.
