  1. Step 1

Grasp the hanger with one hand at the middle of the bottom portion and with the other hand on the hook.

  2. Step 2

Pull hanger apart into a diamond shape.

  3. Step 3

Pull one leg of panty hose all the way up over the diamond shape, starting from the bottom up. Secure panty hose with a rubber band at base of hook.

  4. Step 4

Trim remaining hose, leaving about 2 inches of excess hose above rubber band. Save other leg of panty hose for use in another Santa face.

  5. Step 5

Cut a big triangle for a hat and round circle for nose from a sheet of red construction paper.

  6. Step 6

Cut two circles for eyes from a sheet of black construction paper or use store-bought plastic wiggly eyes.

  7. Step 7

Glue hat over the hanger's hook to hide the rubber band.

  8. Step 8

Glue nose and eyes in place.

  9. Step 9

Glue cotton balls onto the face to create the beard and mustache, the trim on the hat and the eyebrows.

Tips & Warnings
  • For just a hint of twinkle, add glitter to Santa's eyes and in his beard.
  • With construction-paper ears, pipe-cleaner whiskers and a bag of cotton balls, you can also make an Easter bunny using this same technique.
  • This project will not work with a plastic hanger or a wire hanger with a cardboard piece across the bottom.
