Instructions

    • 1

Award the serving team one point if the receiving team allows the ball to touch the ground within its half of the playing court, hits the ball out of bounds, hits the ball more than three times without sending it over the net or otherwise violates the rules of the game.

    • 2

Award the serve to the receiving team if the serving team commits any of the faults mentioned above - but don't award a point to either team.

    • 3

Win the game by being the first team to reach a score of 15 points while the other team's score is 13 points or lower - or being the team with the highest score when the game clock runs out.

Tips & Warnings

  • In the Rally Point System, the team that wins the rally scores a point regardless of whether it is the serving or receiving team. A team wins a rally when the other team commits a fault.

  • The game clock runs out after the ball has been in play for nine minutes. The ball is in play between a serve and the end of a rally. A rally ends when one team commits a fault.

  • If the game is tied when the game clock runs out, the teams play a "sudden death" match in which the first team to score wins the game.

I've been asked to keep score for our high school volleyball games. It is rally scoring with FHSAA rules. I know how points are scored, but the score sheet is very confusing. Help!
