How to Burn a CD Using iTunes Version 5

Apple released their digital media player, iTunes, in 2005. Since that time iTunes has only grown in its popularity. With iTunes, you can download songs, create playlists and burn CDs. ITunes version 5 has a user friendly interface that gives anyone the ability to burn a CD.

      Download iTunes version 5 from the Apple website and install the software. Click "I Agree" on the User Agreement page and follow the installation instructions. Choose a location to install the file and click "Next." Click "Run iTunes" and choose"Finished" after the install is complete. If you already have the software downloaded, click the iTunes desktop icon to open the program.

      Click on "File" and select "New Playlist." Type the name of the playlist into the box and click "Done."

      Hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and select all the songs you want to burn to CD. Drag the songs into the new playlist created in Step 2.

      Click and drag songs into the order you want to have them on the CD.

      Place a CD-R or a CD-RW into the CD burner. ITunes will recognize the CD in a few seconds, although this sometimes takes up to one minute. A CD-R is only allowed to be used one time. A CD-RW can be rewritten as many times as you like.

      Click on the "Burn CD" button at the top of the interface. ITunes automatically starts the burn process. Once it finishes, a small window or bubble appears on the screen and reads "Finalizing CD" or "Closing Session," depending on your operating system. Do not eject the CD until this finishes or the CD won't work in other machines.
