How to Backup Firefox Extensions, Bookmarks, Themes and Preferences
When your computer crashes and you have to rebuild things, you often lose the small things that make life easy. Preferences and bookmarks are not the most important things but you don't want to have to reinvent the wheel restoring them. Firefox has an extension available that will back up all those things and more so that you can take a periodic back up and store it safely away.

1
Go to the Extension download site for Firefox. Look for the FEBE extension and download it. Install the download. This extension is provided by Firefox to help you restore your system, should disaster strike. It also will allow you to sync systems at work and home so that your environment is the same.

2
Open Firefox and select the "Tools" menu. Find the selection for FEBE and then select the "FEBE Options" on the cascaded menu. By examining the selections available to you on this page, you can back up virtually any type of data or theme information that you desire. Check the boxes next to the things that you want backed up.

3
Move across the tabs at the top and select "Directory." This is where you will tell Firefox where you want the back up stored on your computer. Then move one more tab to "Scheduling." You can define a periodic back up of the selections that you made at the first tab. About the only thing you need to do is to remember to transfer that file to some type of media that doesn't reside on the hard disk.

4
Restore your browsing environment by going back to FEBE and choosing "restore." Firefox will ask for the file to restore from, you will give the location of the file, and the system will be exactly as it was when you backed it up.
