Google is one of the leading search engine on the Internet. Getting your site listed in the Google index places you in their searches. This is an important step in getting your site seen by others. Pages listed in the Google index are seen by more people than any other Internet search engine.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Prepare your site for Google spiders. Google spiders scan each page of a website and look for meta tags, keywords and the amount of keywords on the page. Check all the links on the pages to be sure they work properly.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Google index add page. There is a link to this page in the reference section of this article.

  3. Step 3

Enter your site into the box provided. Include the "http://" and prefix. For example, eHow would enter "http://www.ehow.com" into the box. Do not enter all the pages or sub domains on the site. The spider finds those pages and includes them. If you have other domain names such as ehow.net or ehow.biz, add these separately.

  4. Step 4

Type a short description of the site in the Comments box on this page. This is a description of what the site is or does. Add in a few keywords from your site that are widely searched.

  5. Step 5

Enter the security code you see on the page. This code tells Google you are an individual and not a machine entering the site. Google spiders all of the sites input by individuals before they spider sites input with software.

Tips & Warnings
  • Google spiders scan every site but if your site does not have meta tags or keywords, the web spiders don't guarantee they will index your site.
