Things You'll Need:
- Mineral-based foundation
- Mineral-based foundation
- Gel blush
- Waterproof mascara
- Warm toned eye shadow
- Lip-gloss
- Facial exfoliant
- Lightweight moisturizer with Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 15 or higher
-
Step 1
Start your makeup routine at night. Even though you're going to bed, that's the best time for a sunless tanner to work. Apply lightly to a clean face. Make sure you rub it in carefully around your hairline and lips to prevent streaks. A good sunless tanner will add color to your face and even out your skin tone.
-
Step 2
Get rid of dead skin cells for the smoothest look. Choose a gentle facial exfoliant cleanser that you can use daily without irritating your skin.
-
Step 3
Smooth moisturizer on a just-dried face. While moisture from your morning cleansing is still in your pores, lock it in by applying your moisturizer and giving it 10 minutes to "set" as you grab a glass of juice or select your clothing.
-
Step 4
Dot on mineral-based makeup for sheer coverage that won't cake or run on hot days. Check foundation labels when choosing a summer makeup and avoid products that contain talc. You may choose to forego a foundation altogether by using a tinted moisturizer.
-
Step 5
Accentuate your cheekbones with a sheer gel blush. For a sun-kissed look, place small dots of blush just under the ridge of your cheekbone and smooth on in an upward motion. Remove any excess blush that gets on your temples.
-
Step 6
Finish your summer look with waterproof mascara and lip-gloss. Apply a light coating of mascara and blot with a tissue to remove clumps. Smooth on a quick application of lip-gloss and forget about lining your lips during the summer. Keep a spare lip-gloss in your handbag for frequent freshening during the day.
