How to do an Inside Turn With Double Turn in Advanced Salsa Dance

Salsa dancing is a mixture of several different dance styles from the Caribbean and Latin America. The word "salsa" means sauce or spicy flavor. Salsa dancing definitely lives up to its name. Salsa dancing is considered to be one of the most flirtatious dance styles in the world. The inside turn with double turn is an advanced combination of steps performed with a partner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    For the Lead

  1. Step 1

    Hold both of your partner's hands. Take two forward steps toward your partner.

  2. Step 2

    Step back and raise your left arm up to allow the woman to turn under it. Loosen the grip of your right hand and place it on your partner's right hip. Her hand will still be in yours. This gives her the ability to turn back. At this point you are both facing the same direction.

  3. Step 3

    Do a back step with your left foot and allow your partner to turn into your raised arm. She is now facing you and your hands are crossed in front of your body.

  4. Step 4

    Step forward with your left foot and release her right hand so she can do a double turn. Place your hand on her back.

  5. Step 5

    Practice this with your partner until you both perform the basic salsa step with ease.

  6. For the Follow

  7. Step 1

    Stand facing your partner with your hands in his.

  8. Step 2

    Do a back step with your left foot. Cross your left foot over the right and turn. Spin your body toward your right arm. This leaves you with your right arm in the air while holding your partner's hand, and your left arm across your body at your waist while holding his right hand.

  9. Step 3

    Raise your hands above your head and turn around until you face your partner. Lower your hands back to your waist.

  10. Step 4

    Release your left hand from your partner's and step with your right leg toward him.

  11. Step 5

    Step out with the left leg again and spin twice with your right hand held over your head.

  12. Step 6

    Practice this combination of steps until you can do them in time with the music and in sync with your partner.
