How to Curl Hair With Rollers

Your daughter may want her straight hair curled for an upcoming performance, school portrait or a simple change of pace. Rollers are a great option, but will also require a bit of patience on her part. Try these ideas to encounter minimal fuss when curling your child's hair with rollers.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Smooth hair and remove tangles before you start with a detangling spray. Use a blow dryer until her hair is only a little damp to ensure it will dry while on the rollers. (See Resources)
Step2
Divide her hair into sections and secure them with elastics or large clips so they're ready to go. Place rollers and clips into a basket and enlist your daughter's help by having her hand you the items as you go if it will keep her busy.
Step3
Allow your daughter to watch her favorite television shows or movie on the television or an iPod while you work. If she'd rather do something interactive, find a DVD with games and puzzles that she can complete with the remote control while you style her hair.
Step4
Compile a basket of travel-sized activities that will keep her occupied. Try items like paint with water sets, a magnetic drawing board, a hand-held video game, a small jigsaw puzzle, pieces of clay, a new stuffed animal or a dress-up doll set, for example.
Step5
Keep her engaged by making up songs together, using popular melodies to create tunes about your favorite activities, friends and family members. You can also make up stories that include her favorite television characters, stuffed animal friends or pets and feature her as the main character.
