How to Defend Traditional Marriage

According to federal law, marriage is between a man and a woman only. Many people would like to see that law changed to include same-sex couples. If you think the law should stay the way it is and want to defend it, there are several ways in which you can get your views across.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Use sources besides the Bible as your sole reason for defending marriage. You may strongly believe what the Bible has to say about homosexuality and marriage, but you must understand that not everyone will agree or believe in the Bible.
Step2
Start a blog and write to your local or regional newspaper. Getting your opinion out to the community will help you gain grassroots support for your argument.
Step3
Write to your congressional representative to let them know that you support traditional marriage. In your letter ask them to take action to support a constitutional amendment to your state's or the country's constitution. Let them know that you want the people to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman, rather than let the courts redefine the parameters.
Step4
Vote for politicians who share your views on traditional marriage. These people are elected to represent you, so spend the time to research their views to ensure that your votes will help to defend traditional marriage.
Step5
Commit yourself to having a strong marriage. By practicing what you preach, you can be a living example of the very institution that you are defending.
