1
Turn the iron on and let it heat. Use a setting for the type of carpet fiber you have so you don't melt the fibers. If you're not sure of the carpet's fiber composition, keep the iron on a low to medium setting.
-
2
Mix 2 teaspoons dishwashing liquid with 2 cups of hot water in the spray bottle.
-
-
3
Saturate the stain with the hot, soapy mixture.
-
4
Wet a white cloth with hot water. Fold it over once and lay it over the saturated carpet.
-
5
Place the iron over the towel and leave it for two minutes. Check on it a couple of times to see if the bond between the Kool Aid dye and the carpet is weakening. Once you see the towel start to absorb the color from the carpet, it's starting to work.
-
6
Rinse the towel or replace it after two minutes. Place the clean, hot, wet towel over the stained area and set the iron back on the towel. Put pressure on the iron if the carpet has a thick or dense pile.
-
7
Keep working the stain, replacing the towel every two minutes until the stain is gone.
-
8
Flush the cleaned area with cool, clear water until you see no suds from the detergent. This keeps the soap residue from reacting with the sugars in any Kool Aid residue.
-
9
Use dry, white cloth or paper towels to blot up the excess water. Let the area dry.
-
10
Vacuum over the dried area to restore uniformity to the carpet pile.
