Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Understand your level. There are three different levels of a court martial including summary, special and general. Knowing the level you are facing will help as you prepare.
Step2
Know your rights. Regardless of the claim against you, it is important to know your rights so they aren't violated in the investigation. Knowing these rights will arm you against any unfair treatment or judgment.
Step3
Hire a lawyer. A court martial is a legal process within the military and it is important for you to have a lawyer that can help you with your case. Listen to his advice as he knows more than you in these matters.
Step4
Prepare your argument. If you are innocent, it is up to you to make people believe you. Know what you are being court martialed for and prepare your argument against it. Give honest testimony and provide witnesses who can vouch for you.
Step5
Get ready for your punishment. Depending on your level, or what investigators find in the investigation, your punishment can vary from probation to dishonorable discharge. Understand these punishments and prepare before you even receive one.
Step6
Take your second chance. If you happen to be given a lesser punishment and can stay in the military, take the opportunity to change. Don't let this happen again and work to get back in the good graces of those around you.
