How to Download and Install the mIRC Chat Client
The mIRC chat client connects people on IRC networks anywhere in the world and enables you to chat and share files. MIRC chat facilitates group conferences, multi-user chats and one-on-one personal chats. MIRC supports common chat functions on IRC networks such as proxy support, multi-server connections, SSL encryption, file transfers, UTF-8 display, buddy lists, customizable sounds, spoken messages, message logging and tray notifications.

Log on to the Internet and navigate to the mIRC download page (see link in Resources).

Click on the "Download mIRC" button. You are redirected to Download.com. Click the "Download Now" button.

Select "Save" from the pop-up menu. Choose "Save" again to save the file to the default directory. Another option is to select a different directory and click "Save." Wait for the pop-up menu to disappear signifying the download is complete.

Click on "Start" at the bottom right of the computer screen. Select "Run" from the Start menu. Select the "Browse" button from the pop-up options box and navigate to the downloaded mIRC file. Double-click on the file name to set the file name and path into the entry field and select "OK."

Click "Run" if you get the security warning pop-up box. Select "Next" in the mIRC Setup Wizard pop-up box.

Select "I Agree" to agree to the mIRC terms of service and click "Next" to accept the default download location for the program.

Leave the default setting at "Full" in the Choose Components options box unless you really know what you're doing and want to customize the mIRC program. Click "Next" and then click "Next" once again.

Click "Install" and allow the program to install to the designated directory on the computer's hard drive.

Decide if you want to launch mIRC immediately or if you want to read the mIRC chat client help file. Select "Finish" to finalize the installation of the mIRC chat client.

Find the mIRC icon on the computer's start-up screen. Double-click the icon to open the mIRC program if you did not choose for the program to open automatically prior to finishing the install.
