Instructions

    • 1

Start by determining your face shape. Your eyebrows should flatter your features, not detract from them. Browse through fashion magazines, find photos of women with a similar face shape and notice their eyebrows. Save the photos for reference.

    • 2

Wash your face and use an exfoliant to remove dead skin cells in the eyebrow area. Allow your brows to dry before proceeding.

    • 3

Follow some beauty guidelines for your face shape when plucking. Angular-shaped brows flatter a round face and rounded eyebrows will offset a wide forehead. Low arched brows look best on small foreheads and a high arch balances round cheeks. If your features are delicate, avoid thick, heavy brows.

Brush your eyebrows upwards and with your eyebrow pencil, draw a line on the brow, directly above the outside edge of each nostril. This is inside boundary for your eyebrow and you will pluck all hairs that grow inside this line.

    • 5

Hold your pencil at the bottom corner of your nostril and place the upper portion even with the outside corner of your eye on the same side of your face. Above the eye, the pencil will extend to your eyebrow. Draw a line here and pluck all hairs that grow outside the line.

    • 6

Using your photos for reference, notice the arch on the models' brow and make a line on your own brows that matches.

    • 7

Pluck conservatively. It's easy to become overzealous and pluck too many hairs. Instead, remove only one or two, then switch to the other brow and pluck a couple in the same area. In this manner, your brows will be nice and uniform.

Continue to brush your brows upwards during the plucking process so you can see the hair follicle easily.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use your brow pencil to color in areas if you over-pluck. The hairs will grow back but until they do, you can hide the mistake by making small feathery strokes, only in the space where the hairs are absent. Make sure your eyebrow pencil matches your brow color exactly.

  • Hold an ice cube on your brow for a few seconds if plucking is painful.
