The true beauty of a person lies within, but for those who are unhappy with their appearance, it's difficult to take comfort in that. Appearances give first impressions, dictate how people treat you and may determine the success you experience in your career. It may be worth the time and effort to take an objective look at yourself and change your appearance if needed.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
List things about your appearance that is genetically inherent. Height, body frame, the color of your eyes, size of your feet and many other things about you comes from pure biology and for the most part, you can't alter it. Learn to love the way that you are genetically, rather than try to change what you can't.
Step2
Work on any low self-esteem that you have resulting from not liking certain aspects about yourself. The biggest change in your appearance comes not from plastic surgery, but how a person feels. When you accept and love who you are, it shows on the outside and people who may have never noticed you before will stop to look because of the way you carry yourself.
Step3
Turn your negatives into positives. If you have naturally curly hair, stop spending hours straightening it and learn how to tame your curls into something most men and women will envy. If you're taller than average, become comfortable with your height and know that everyone under 5 feet 2 inches would kill to be like you. Work on finding your natural beauty.
Step4
Dress for success at work and in your personal life. Invest in a tailored suit, wear only good shoes and clothes that flatter you and take time to check all of the details before you leave the house. The attention you show to the details of your clothes transcends to the way you handle yourself at work and at play.
Step5
Call in the professionals for a true makeover. See the best hairdresser you can afford and get an updated hairstyle, have a cosmetologist show you how to properly apply makeup, have a nutritionist plan out a healthy diet and hire a personal trainer to set you on a workout plan to get you in shape.
