Things You'll Need:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Tire iron
- Jack
-
Step 1
Pop the hood and look on the passenger side. You will see the tire iron and jack up against the side of the truck.
-
Step 2
Use the Phillips head screwdriver to release the tire iron and jack from the side of the truck.
-
Step 3
Use the flat crowbar end of the tire iron if the tire has a hub cap or lug nut cover. Loosen the lug nuts with the tire iron. Do not completely remove them, just loosen them so you can turn the lug nuts with your hand. If you cannot get enough torque or leverage, try using a 4-way lug wrench for more power.
-
Step 4
Get under the back end of the F150 and find the spare tire. Look for a "J" hook bolt. This bolt looks exactly the way it sounds-like a "J." Turn the bolt so the hook faces the back of the truck. Unscrew the bolt in the middle of the spare tire to remove the tire from its holder.
-
Step 5
Put your emergency break on and place the jack below the axle of the tire you need to change. Raise the jack to lift the old tire off the ground. Place the flat end of the tire iron into the slot on the jack and turn it clockwise to raise the tire off the ground.
-
Step 6
Remove all the lug nuts from the tire. Slide the tire off the axle.
-
Step 7
Place the new tire on the axle. Put the lug nuts back on and screw them firmly in place.
-
Step 8
Lower the jack by turning the tire iron counter-clockwise. Tighten the lug nuts with the tire iron. Put all the equipment back into their places. Place the old tire underneath the truck in the spare tire spot or in the bed of the truck if you are going to replace or repair the flat tire soon.
