Baby hats provide protection from sun, wind, rain and cold temperatures. Select a hat that's comfortable for your baby and that can provide the proper protection.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose lightweight knitted hats to help baby retain his body heat. Pick up several so you're not caught unprepared.

  2. Step 2

Consider broad-brimmed hats to protect the baby's face from bright sunshine when traveling outdoors. Try to find hats that tie under your baby's chin instead of those with elastic bands, which may be uncomfortable or even dangerous for your baby.

  3. Step 3

Select breathable materials when hat shopping for a warm-weather hat for your infant.

  4. Step 4

Make sure the fabric is very soft to the touch and not scratchy or made of materials that may irritate the baby's skin.

  5. Step 5

Take baby with you so you can try on the hats to see how they look and fit. Test to make sure the hat will stay in place but isn't so snug that it leaves marks or applies pressure to your baby's head when she wears it.
