How to Edit an MSN Messenger Profile

The MSN Messenger profile offers an opportunity to display your interests, hobbies, location, a picture and any personal information you want to give out to other users. This information can help you meet people with similar interests and help your friends get to know you better. Once in awhile you'll want to edit your MSN Messenger profile to keep it up-to-date.

Instructions

1. Open MSN Messenger and log in to your account.

2. Go to the "Tools" menu. From the "Tools" menu, choose "Options." Then, choose the "Personal" tab at the left.

3. Click the "Edit Profile" button. A new browser window will open and load your profile.

4. Choose the "Web Appearance" tab from the menu at the left of your profile. The information here will be shown to users of Windows Live Mail and all other MSN services. You can also change your profile picture by clicking on the "Browse" button and uploading a picture from your hard drive.

5. Scroll down to edit your personal information. At the bottom of the "Web Appearance" tab, you can edit your occupation, location and your interests and hobbies.

6. Select the "Messenger Appearance" tab. This is the information which displays to your MSN Messenger contacts. Here, you can edit the name and picture that displays to your friends when you sign in to MSN Messenger. You can also edit your personal message which displays next to your name in MSN Messenger.

7. Edit your social information by clicking on the "Social" tab. Here, you can edit information such as your marital status, the type of relationships you're pursuing and more detailed information about your interests. This information is only available to your MSN Messenger contacts.
