Wall mounted bookshelves provide storage while freeing up your floor space. Building your own three tiered wall mounted bookshelf allows you to customize the shape of the shelf to fit your specific space. Make several and put them everywhere you want a little extra storage.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wood
  • Saw
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Measuring tape
  • Paint or stain
  • Paint brush
  • Hooks
  1. Step 1

Decide where you want to hang your wall mounted bookshelf and measure the space so you know how large or small to make it.

  2. Step 2

Purchase the wood you need to make your three tiered bookshelf. You can either cut the wood yourself or have the wood cut to size by the home improvement store where you purchase your wood.

  3. Step 3

Create the outer box first using screws to attach the wood pieces together, then add the third shelf in the center of the box to create your three tier wall mounted book shelf.

  4. Step 4

Putty over your screw holes with wood putty and sand it smooth. Wipe it off with a tack cloth to remove any remaining dust.

  5. Step 5

Paint or stain your three tier wall mounted bookshelf and allow it to dry thoroughly. You may want to apply a protective coat of polyurethane when the paint is dry.

  6. Step 6

Add hooks to the top corners of the back of your three tiered wall mounted bookshelf. When you hang your shelf, make sure it's hung on studs or use wall anchors so the shelf doesn't fall.
