Step 1
Check the used foreign car appraisal information on the Internet. These sites provide an excellent ballpark or starting figure for the appraisal, but they do not take into account local market or specific upgrades to the used foreign car. See the Resources section for more information.
-
Step 2
Locate similar used foreign cars for sale in local newspapers or trade magazines. These local listings of used foreign cars often are a better reflection of local market conditions that will factor into the appraisal.
-
Step 3
Take the used foreign car to a dealership that features the same type of foreign car and attain an appraisal. These car dealerships will have specific knowledge of the used foreign car, and will factor in the information during the appraisal. If possible, take the used foreign car to more than one dealership to get the car appraised. Also, if you are a purchaser of the car, ask the owner for permission to take the used foreign to the dealership for the appraisal.
-
Step 4
Average all of the appraisal prices for the used foreign car together to get a proper appraisal. This average is the most likely value of the car given all the necessary market factors.
