1
Choose what Christmas carols you'll teach. It's best to select popular ones such as "Frosty the Snowman" or "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" that the children have probably heard before. Other popular Christmas carols with easy to remember verses are "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" and "Jingle Bells."

2
Play each song that you will be teaching, or sing it for them so that they can get a feel for the pattern the song follows. Use a CD that has the music with and without words for the best results so that they can sing along and it will be sung the same each time.

3
Read the story or watch the movie that goes along with the Christmas carol you will teach so that the children will understand the words better. "The Little Drummer Boy," "Frosty the Snowman" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" are all popular songs that also have a story behind them.

4
Point out where in the movie the carol is sung and encourage the children to mouth the words they already know as they listen. After the story or movie sing or play the song for them as a whole so they can hear the entire carol the way it should sound. With children old enough to read you can provide them with the words on paper to follow along.

5
Sing the song for the children one verse at a time. First you'll sing a few words then have them sing it after you. Work your way up to a line and then a verse. Once they have the hang of one, move on to the next and build the entire carol by slowly adding each verse.

Tips & Warnings
Teach only one or two songs at a time to give the children time to remember the words and not get mixed up between songs.
