A wrinkled edge can be added to any image in Adobe Photoshop CS3 quite easily. The Ripple filter is used to create a wrinkled edge to the outside of an image.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3
  1. Step 1

Start Adobe Photoshop CS3 and create a new Photoshop document that has a white background. Insert an image to which you want to wrinkle the edges.

  2. Step 2

Adjust the size of the canvas by clicking "Canvas Size" from the Image menu. Set the size of the canvas to be larger than the image. The larger the canvas you create, the more of a wrinkled edge you will get. Click the "OK" button to close the dialog box.

  3. Step 3

Select the Rectangular Marquee tool from the Photoshop toolbox. Type "8" in the "Feather" text box on the Rectangular Marquee tool options bar towards the top of the screen. Create a rectangular marquee inside of your image by clicking and dragging with your mouse. The space between the marquee and the outer edge of the image should be roughly the same as the space between the edge of the picture and the edge of the canvas.

  4. Step 4

Choose "Inverse" from the Select menu to select the inverse of what you have just selected.

  5. Step 5

Point to "Distort" and then "Ripple" from the Filter menu.

  6. Step 6

Click and drag the image in the preview window of the "Ripple" dialog box so you can see the edge of the image. Use the amount slider to adjust the amount of wrinkle you want to see on the edge of the image. Click the "OK" button to close the dialog box and return to your image.

  7. Step 7

Return to the Select menu and click "Deselect" to deselect the image and finished your wrinkled edge.
