How to Make Jack O'Lantern Pie for Halloween

Make a jack o'lantern pie for Halloween and it will be frighteningly light and delicious. You can throw a jack o'lantern pie together in just a few minutes, just in time for your next ghostly get-together.

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 small package orange gelatin
  • Mixing bowl
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups softened vanilla ice cream
  • 1 container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • Licorice strings
  • Candy corn

    Chocolate Cookie Crumb Crust

  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

  2. Step 2

    Mix 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter and 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs together in a small bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Press the chocolate cookie crumb mixture into the bottom and sides of the 9-inch pie pan.

  4. Step 4

    Bake the crust for 5 to 6 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Remove the crust from the oven and allow it to cool before filling it with jack o'lantern pie filling.

  6. Jack O'Lantern Pie Filling

  7. Step 1

    Place 1 small package of orange gelatin in a mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of boiling water and stir until the gelatin is dissolved.

  8. Step 2

    Add 2 cups of softened ice cream, and continue stirring until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.

  9. Step 3

    Place the mixture in the refrigerator for a few minutes, just until it begins to set up and thicken.

  10. Step 4

    Pour the jack o'lantern pie mixture into the cooled chocolate crumb crust and put it back in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, or until it sets up.

  11. Step 5

    Spoon 1 container of thawed whipped topping around the edge of the jack o'lantern pie.

  12. Step 6

    Give the jack o'lantern pie a face with licorice strings and candy corn.
