How to Make a Paper Piecing Rose for Scrapbooks
To add a distinctive look to a scrapbook page, create a rose with the paper piecing technique. The result will look more sophisticated than simply stamping the page. The rose can be multi-colored and any design you choose.

1
Search through books to find a line drawing of a rose. The open areas on the pattern need to be large enough to recreate on colored paper.
-
2
Use a copy machine to duplicate the pattern on a piece of white card stock, enlarging or reducing to the size desired. Run off a few extra copies on typing paper for marking desired colors and to use as a pattern. Trace over the outline of the rose to create a thicker outline on the copies.

3
Decide what color to make each piece of the pattern. Each outlined piece of flower can be a different color.
-
4
Cut apart the rose along the outlines. Place each pattern piece on the desired color of paper and carefully cut out a duplicate piece in colored paper. Put colored pieces on the corresponding position of the card stock rose.
-
5
Glue the pieces of rose to the card stock pattern to create a colorful scrapbook keepsake. Cut out the finished rose and secure to a scrapbook page.

Tips & Warnings
Slip the pattern design under a piece of transparency and then put the pieces of design together on top of the transparency. This creates a more finished look with no pieces having a black outline.
Once this technique is mastered for scrapbooking, use it to create quilt designs.
