How to Make a Makeup Kit

The makeup kit is an essential in many households. Whether you need an on-the-go kit or a makeup bag to keep all the essentials together at home, organize your kit for quick access and application.

Choose a Makeup Bag

1. Select a container based on the desired size make up kit. If you keep it in your handbag or purse, find a compact size you can carry around. If you're stocking a makeup kit for at-home use, find a bag that fits the basics plus extras are in one place.

2. Look for makeup bags with several compartments so you can easily organize different products.

3. Find a bag with a mirror already attached or included so you won't have to find one that fits after you buy it.

4. Make sure the bag shuts securely so you won't loose any make up when you're on the run.

Stock Your Makeup Kit

1. Set all of your makeup out on a large vanity area or kitchen table.

2. Separate the products into categories based on their use. Make a pile for eyes, mouth, cheeks and face, application brushes, grooming tools and more.

3. Choose your favorite products from each. Get rid of any old make up or any products that you haven't used in 3 months.

4. Put each category of products in a different section of your make up kit. If there are not enough different compartments, use smaller pouches to put the products in before adding them to the kit.

Maintain your Kit

1. Go through your makeup kit every few months to throw out any makeup that has gotten old or replace any products you are running low on.

2. Replace bottles of moisturizer, base, lip gloss or other items that only have a small amount left. Use the small amounts up at home and put a new bottle in your bag.
