How to Make Lip Gloss With Petroleum Jelly

Lip gloss can add a glowing finish to you look, and you don't have to purchase high-end designer versions to get the job done. You can create your own beauty products at home. If you want to make your own lip gloss, start with petroleum jelly.

Things You'll Need

• Petroleum jelly
• Microwave
• Microwave safe container
• Mixing spoon
• Measuring spoon
• Small container
• Cocoa or hot chocolate mix
• Straws with flavored powder
• Honey
• Kool-Aid
• Cake glitter
• Lipstick

Instructions

1. Make a chocolate lip gloss. Put 1 tbsp. of petroleum jelly in the microwave and melt it. Add enough hot chocolate or cocoa mix to make a paste. Mix it well. Pour the mixture into a small container or an old lip gloss container.

2. Create a fruity red lip gloss with straws that contain flavored powder, like Pixy Stix candy. Get two straws of the same flavors and melt 1 tbsp. of petroleum jelly like you did in Step 1. Mix the contents of one straw into the petroleum jelly. Add the second straw if you want more flavor.

3. Concoct a honey and Kool-Aid lip gloss with any flavor of Kool-Aid that you choose. Put 1 tbsp. of petroleum jelly in the microwave. Mix an equal amount of Kool-Aid and then add a touch of honey to make it sweet. You can even combine several flavors together for a taste treat, but watch out for the color changes.

4. Mix up a batch of vanilla lip gloss. You don't need to heat the petroleum jelly for this one, just add a tiny bit of vanilla extract and mix. Put a little honey in it for sweetener.

5. Shimmer all day with a simple trick. Add cake glitter to a spoon of petroleum jelly and your smile will sparkle. Put the gloss in a container and apply when ever you feel a little dull. You can make a shiny colored lip gloss by adding the cake glitter to any of the other recipes.

6. Use up those old nubs of lipstick to make lip gloss. Scrape all the old lipstick out and add 1 tbsp. of petroleum jelly. Mix the two together with the back of a large spoon until smooth. Put a drop of flavoring in, like mint, and mix well. Put the mixture into a container and refrigerate to firm it up.
