How to Make a Dress

Perhaps you have seen a dress on the runway or in a magazine that you just had to own. You don't have to wait to buy one of those fashions from you favorite designer. Learn how to make a dress you will love.

Instructions

1. Take a sewing course if you do not know how to sew. You will need some knowledge of sewing to sew your dress. Start by making a few small items such as pillows or a tank top.

2. Choose a dress design that you love. Whether it is a ball gown, a summer dress, or a party dress, choose the design that you love. Inspire yourselves with dresses from magazines.

3. Try to sit down and draw some rough sketches of the dress you want. Use some colored pencils to truly get the look you want to have in your dress. If you cannot draw that well, then you might be able to find sketches of dress on the Internet.

4. Go to the craft and fabric store and get the fabric you want to use for your homemade dress. You can choose a pattern at most craft stores and most likely you will find one that will match your sketch. You could also buy fabric and patterns online if you cannot find in your town.

5. Start cutting and sewing your pattern together. Follow the pattern carefully until you reach your desired pattern and you have created the dress you want. Make sure you also complete the finishing touches, like hemming and adding zippers and buttons.

• If you are using a fabric like velvet, then make sure you cut the pattern correctly since the fabric is not reversible.
