Step 1
Wear a helmet for this trick. Without any more speed or effort than you put into a regular ollie, going up over the hip will give the hip ollie a great deal of air. It's an extremely cool feeling, but definitely spare your head the trauma of a hard landing.
-
Step 2
Get up to a fast speed. Bend your knees and start rolling up the bank. The basic ollie is done by jumping into the air at the same time you smack the tail of your board on the pavement. The board bounces up into the air beneath your feet, which propels you and the board high into the air.
-
Step 3
Watch for the moment your front wheels hit the pyramid ramp's hip, and snap down on the board's tail. Be very confident about this because you are now committed. Prepare yourself for the large amount of air you gained.
-
Step 4
Use your forward foot to drag your skateboard higher up into the air and control and guide the board. Use your foot to drag your board right up close to your body for added height. Keep both feet on the board and your body weight centered above it.
-
Step 5
Keep your feet on the board and straighten your legs to land on the bank. Roll away happy.
