Step 1
Position your feet as though you are going into an ollie. Place your forward foot slightly in front of the middle of the skateboard. Then slip the front foot a little closer to the board's nose. Put your back foot on the tip of the tail. Bend your knees and shift to the balls of your feet in preparation to jump.
-
Step 2
Get up to a fast speed and roll toward the step. The faster you are going, the better the grind. Pop an ollie to get on the ledge. The basic ollie is done by jumping into the air at the same time you smack the tail of your board on the pavement. The board bounces up into the air beneath your feet, which propels you and the board high into the air.
-
Step 3
Drag the board up with your front foot. That's what the grip tape is for. With your forward foot on the board's nose while you are in the air above the step, guide the board down to the ledge by pointing your foot down.
-
Step 4
Hit the board's nose down on the front trucks to grind the ledge. Grind across the waxed step with the tail hanging off the curb's edge. The nose and the front truck should be scraping across the edge. That's where the cross between nose slide and nose grind comes in. Ride it until you run out of curb.

Step 5
Come out riding fakie. Fakie is when you skate in your regular stance but your board is rolling backwards. Swing out the tail to come off and roll away fakie.
