Nobody likes a snob. And if you display snobbish behavior, you probably have few friends. However, there are many ways to become likable and stop a snobbish attitude. But first, you have to recognize the problem.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Keep negative thoughts to yourself. Snobbish people are brutally honest and they put others down. There's nothing wrong with being sincere or "real." Still, you shouldn't make others feel bad because they have less than you.
Step2
Be humble. Rather than brag about the good things in your life, be thankful and humble. A humble person doesn't feel the need to monopolize conversations or talk for hours about personal achievements.
Step3
Speak to other people. If you pass someone and they say, "Hi," respond with a smile or say "Hello." Walking by someone and ignoring a greeting is rude and snobbish.
Step4
Learn how to be empathetic. The best way to stop being a snob is learning how to empathize with other people. Recognize that others may have a different educational background and social status due to circumstances beyond their control.
Step5
Work to overcome shyness. Often times, shy persons are mistaken for snobs. They tend to talk less and avoid eye contact. If you're shy or suffer from social anxiety, work on your self-confidence. Practice making good eye contact and smile.
Step6
Listen when others talk. Most snobbish people are also arrogant and conceited. They want to be the center of attention, and they tend to take over conversations and interrupt. To stop being a snob, and increase your likability, learn how to listen and take a sincere interest in others.
