Things You'll Need:
- Cardboard match
- Table
-
Step 1
Remove a cardboard match from the matchbook. This trick only works with cardboard matches.
-
Step 2
Explain to others nearby that you can get a match to land on its side when it is dropped. You may want to bet the others that they can't do it or have them bet you can't do it.
-
Step 3
Ask one of the observers to drop the match a few times. Notice that it does not land on its side. Because of the way cardboard matches are made, they always land flat, unless they are bent.
-
Step 4
Hold the match between your thumb and forefinger. Bend the match at a 90-degree angle so the tip of the match points up. Try to do this as quickly as possible. The bend needs to be near the center of the match. It can be closer to the lighting end than the other end.
-
Step 5
Drop the match on the table. The bent match lands on it's side every time. Practice this trick at home before using it on your friends or in a bar. The practice helps you bend the match stick without anyone seeing you do it.
