Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sealant
  • Putty knife
  • Primer
  1. Step 1

Locate the knotholes on the wall or area that you will airbrush. Before you begin, be clear that you know how many knotholes need to be filled and where they are located.

  2. Step 2

Use the proper sealant. Before filling the holes, it is important to know if the sealant, such as wall putty, is safe for the surface you are working on. The sealant must be able to hold up against airbrushing. If unsure, ask the salesperson at a home improvement store for advice.

  3. Step 3

Seal theknot hole. Use a putty knife to fill the knothole with sealant. Ensure that you use enough sealant to cover the entire hole. Use the knife to evenly spread the sealant and remove any excess.

  4. Step 4

Repeat Step 3 until all of the knotholes have been filled and are even with the rest of the surface.

  5. Step 5

Prime the knotholes. Let the sealant dry if need be and then paint a layer of primer over all of the filled knotholes. Primer will help seal the hole repair and create an even layer for you to airbrush the woodgrain effects.
