Step 1
Apply an ice pack for 20 minutes to any area that hurts. Repeat this every hour until the pain subsides.
-
Step 2
Stretch the sore area gently to rid your body of lactic acid, which contributes to the pain.
-
Step 3
Walk 15 to 30 minutes at least once a day to increase circulation throughout your body. This will also help deliver much-needed oxygen to the sore muscles.
-
Step 4
Drink a minimum of eight glasses (64 oz.) of water daily - more if you're active - to hydrate your body.
-
Step 5
Avoid strenuous activity as long as you're in pain.

on 3/4/2008 I really liked your article. I suffer from dehydration due to a variety of medical conditions such as diabetes and kidney problems. I have never heard of the tonic water cure, but will try it just in case I have problems again. I was eating banana'son a regular basis and almost potassiumed myself to death.

on 3/4/2008 An imbalance in calcium and magnesium in your body can contribute to sore or tense muscles. I take a Calcium/Magnesium supplement called "Calm" for relief. It works to bring your body back to balance. It can be commonly found at health stores like Whole Foods.
