Calling a following group up on a par 3 speeds up play during a round of golf. Make sure the following group knows your intention is to call them up once all your group's members have reached the putting green.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Golf Shirts
  • Golf Bags
  • Golf Balls
  • Golf Club Cleaners
  • Golf Clubs
  • Golf Gloves
  • Golf Hats
  • Golf Markers Or Coins
  • Golf Practice Equipment
  • Golf Shoes
  • Golf Balls
  1. Step 1

Notify the following group that you'll be calling them up (letting them tee off before you putt).

  2. Step 2

Continue to play the golf hole until all of your group members are on the putting surface.

  3. Step 3

Mark all golf balls on the green with ball markers or coins.

  4. Step 4

Make a hand gesture or whistle to the following group to notify them that your group is calling them up.

  5. Step 5

Wait for the following group's acknowledgement, then step away from the green. Wait for the following group to complete teeing off.

  6. Step 6

Return to your ball marks on the green and proceed with the putting process. By the time your group has finished putting, the following group should either be ready to pitch to the green or call the following group up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Calling groups up takes place only on par 3 golf holes.
  • Call the preceding group up only if there is a delay on the tee box.
  • Make sure that, when the following group acknowledges your calling them up, your group has moved away from the green so that nobody is struck by an incoming golf ball.
  • Watch all golfers tee off and follow the trajectory of their shots. Extremely errant shots can be dangerous even if you are standing far off the green.

on 11/22/2005 I think you should place more warnings on your instructions. In many countries, calling up on par 3's is totally banned, as insurance companies have recognized the danger. It is doubtful whether this old practice actually speeds up play.
