Whether you run a tab at the bar or pay as you drink, don't forget to leave something extra for your friendly bartender.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Keep in mind that a bartender relies on tips to supplement his or her income.

  2. Step 2

Have small bills available for the purpose of tipping.

  3. Step 3

Tip about 15 percent of the tab from the bar. If you only buy one drink, tip $1.

  4. Step 4

Remember that tipping is not mandatory, but a stingy tip could affect the service you receive later in the evening or during a subsequent visit.

Tips & Warnings
  • The word "tip," which originated in England, was originally an acronym for the phrase "to insure promptness."

on 7/29/2008 Getting a beer for someone is not just a simple matter of flicking off a cap. It's having to stock all those beers during the shift and at the end of the night. It's knowing your regulars and knowing what beer they want without them even having to order, time and time again. It's giving that special smile and having the beer for them when they've barely walked in the door. It takes almost no time to grab a beer as one is fixing a drink or two so that regular won't have to wait.

on 4/3/2008 agreed with post one but as a customer and not a bartender you dont know that we use our memory as a key to success, asking 4-5 people what they want before going to get the first persons drink.. its making time not spending it instead of going to get one rum/coke and walking asking the next person and getting another rum/coke i could've saved myself the time and just made 2 at once... also if you order 8 drinks from me and they're all stored in my head and I ask 2 other people what they want as I'm on the way AND i stop see a regular on the way i'm going to 'pop' the cap off his beer and give it to him before i make your 8 drinks because i already know he's handing me one dollar for that simple service and then ill make your 8 drinks!!

that is if your not the person who asks for a beer doesnt know what beer they want and when i bring them one they say oh and a rum/coke bring it... oh
