How to Clean a Kitchen Table

Here's how to make that table so clean you could eat off of it!

Things You'll Need

• Furniture Polishes
• Neutral Cleaners
• Soft Cloth
• Sponges
• Oil Soaps
• Buckets
• Tarps

1. Spray the surface of the table with a cleaning fluid for routine cleaning. Use a neutral cleaner for synthetic materials; use oil soap for wood. Wipe the table dry with a soft towel. For deeper cleaning, read on.

2. Lay a plastic tarp on the floor around the table.

3. Prepare a solution of neutral cleaner (for synthetic materials) or oil soap (for wood). The product label should give guidelines about mixing proportions.

4. Use a sponge to apply the cleaning solution to the table surface. Wipe with the grain of the surface material.

5. Wring the sponge out over an empty bucket.

6. Use the sponge to wipe the cleaning solution off the table, and wring the sponge out periodically over the bucket.

7. Immediately wipe the surface dry with a soft terry cloth towel.

Tips & Warnings

• If cleaning doesn't fully restore your table's shine, polish it again with a standard furniture polish.
