Find out your new address. If the move is temporary, determine the length of time you will be gone.
Step2
Visit your local post office at least one week before you are to travel or change your address.
Step3
Request a Change of Address form.
Step4
Indicate in the appropriate area that the change of address is permanent, if you are moving. If you will be out of town, fill out the requested information for a temporary change of address.
Step5
Return the form to your local post office.
Tips & Warnings
You can also download a Change of Address form at the post office's MoversNet site (see Related Sites). Fill out the form, print it and return to your local post office.
