How to Store Kiwis

At only 45 calories a fruit, kiwis are a great low-calorie food.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Place unripe kiwis in a paper bag with an apple, pear or banana at room temperature for a few days. These fruits give off ethylene gas, which causes ripening.

  2. Step 2

    Keep either ripe or unripe kiwis in the refrigerator for storae or more gradual ripening. Refrigerate for no longer than 1-2 weeks.

Tips & Warnings
  • The fruit can be eaten whole if you rub off the fuzz, or cut open and eaten with a spoon.
  • Slice kiwis for fruit or green salads, or use as an appealing garnish.
  • Keep kiwis away from other fruits, which will cause the kiwis to overripen quickly.
