Step 1
Start your computer and locate the My Computer icon.

Step 2
Right-click the My Computer icon, and select Properties from the menu that appears.

Step 3
Look under the General tab where it gives you information about the size of the hard drive and what operating system you use to find the amount of RAM in megabytes (MB) or Gigabytes (GB).

on 11/22/2005 Instead of having to right-click the "My Computer" icon to show the System Properties, just press the Windows key + "Pause Break" (which is on the top right hand side of the keyboard) and it will bring it up. Go to the Performance tab and it will show you how much RAM, system resources, and other things that your computer has.
