Got something good to sell, or simply want to get rid of some old stuff that's laying around the house that might have some value to somebody out there? Try going online and selling it and maybe you'll make a buck or two.

1. A good place to start is at an online auction site. There are many specialized and unspecialized auctions on the Web that can be found via Internet searches.

2. Many Internet service providers (ISPs), Internet directories and search engines feature classified ads which can be used to sell things to other online subscribers.

3. Find message boards and newsgroups that specialize in the item(s) that you're trying to sell and post a message containing your ad.

4. If you maintain a private website or home page, advertise your item(s) on your site.

5. Take pictures of everything you want to sell, it will drastically increase your chances of selling them.

Tips & Warnings

• Some online auctions only allow their members to bid, rather than sell. Before you register for an online auction, make sure its policies suit your needs.

• Include your email address and URL in your online ad, but not your address and phone number.
