Say you're at the grocery store and out of nowhere comes a stunning specimen, pushing a cart straight toward you. Don't just stand there speechless in aisle 9 - ask for a phone number!
Approach the person. Remember that eye contact and a gentle smile are crucial in appearing friendly.
Step2
Enter the conversation with a compliment, then introduce yourself. Try not to be too cute with your delivery.
Step3
Talk. You'll get a strong sense of whether the person would be willing to give you a phone number. If there's no eye contact or smile coming your way, and you're really making a solid effort, then maybe you should abort the mission.
Step4
Ask for the number. Try not to be pushy, and show respect for the person's private information. Avoid "How about giving me your number?" and go with "It would be great to get to know you better. Is there a number where I can reach you?"
Step5
Offer your own phone number after getting the other person's, if you feel comfortable doing so. Men may offer their own numbers even after women deny them, since some women are not comfortable with giving out their numbers.

Guys, don't ever say "What's your name?" it just doesn't fly. Say with confidence Hi...my name is Joe... and she will have to drop her name, because its social etiquette. Also it's a good way to start hitting on her without coming on too strong, because you are still within guidelines. Whats your name is cornering and pushy, who actually asks that?
Don't ask her for her number, tell her you want her number.

Instead of asking for their number, say "Let's exchange information," and offer your number first. This also works well in business networking settings.

First, you might want to ask her if it will be OK if you add her as one of your contacts on MSN or Yahoo. A couple of days later, tell her that she is not online too often and ask if there is a more reliable way to get a hold of her. That way she will give you her number if she feels comfortable. If not, she can always say no without making you look bad.

It's easy, just go up to some girl and say some stupid pickup line, they'll think it's cute, then go for it! It can't hurt, it's not like there going to tell everyone in the world. Just be calm and laid back.
