Things You'll Need:
- Directories
- Breath Fresheners
-
Step 1
Turn down the volume - the place should let you and your date get to know one another without needing a bullhorn.
-
Step 2
Remember the importance of service - you and your date need time and privacy; you don't need attitude or neglect.
-
Step 3
Think about the lighting. Make sure you can see each other, but you might want to avoid the tell-all threat of cafeteria lighting.
-
Step 4
Consider the cost. Try to pick a restaurant you can afford, whether or not you're picking up the check.
-
Step 5
Opt for a place you're familiar with. However don't go to a place where everyone knows you on a first-name basis - your date might feel uncomfortable.
-
Step 6
Pick a place where both you and your date can eat. Ask your date ahead of time about any special food preferences or dislikes.

on 4/23/2009 I liked this. You gave some good advice. I liked the tip on lighting. I find lighting to be so critical when it comes to trying to get in the right mood for a date.Do you think it would be good to take notes on the friendliest, cleanest and tastiest places? Would it be wise to maybe make friends with a server there and have them become a regular. This can usually do two things. They will give you great service, keep the mood friendly and also maybe even build you up a little.

on 6/17/2008 One of the best places to go on a first date, is a Japanese Hibachi restaurant - one of those places that cooks the food on your table. They usually put on a show, and involve the people dining there. As a bonus, you'll have something to talk about during dinner!
