How to Store Asparagus

These delicate vegetables need moisture and can't be stored for long. It's best to use them soon after purchasing.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper Towels
  • Paper Towels
  • Paper towels
  1. Step 1

    Wet a paper towel and wrap around bottom of asparagus stalks.

  2. Step 2

    Place in plastic bag.

  3. Step 3

    Put in coldest part of refrigerator, preferably the crisper.

  4. Step 4

    Store for no more than 2-4 days.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also stand asparagus in 2 inches of water and place in the refrigerator, with a plastic bag over the tips.
  • Flavor of asparagus will lessen each day it is stored.
  • Asparagus does not lend itself to drying or canning, but can be frozen.
