Brows shape your face and enhance your eyes. Your grandma used to pencil them on really thick or really thin. Luckily, you have multiple options and colors to fill your eyebrows subtly and attractively.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Select a brow filler that's a shade or two lighter than your hair.
Step2
Begin with freshly plucked or waxed brows.
Step3
Stroke a thicker brow with a sharp eyebrow pencil using light, feathery strokes, adding color to thinner areas.
Step4
Define thin brows with a brow powder. Use a flat angled brow brush and color over the natural shape of the brow. Apply to the outer edges first, then move to the area closer to the nose.
Step5
Groom your brows with a clean mascara brush or similar tool. Move loose hairs into place and blend color for a more natural appearance.
Step6
Use a brow powder with a waxy base to keep hairs in place throughout the course of the day. Or use a very small amount of brow gel or alcohol-free hair gel on the brush when grooming your brows.

Tips & Warnings

  • Look for brow kits, which offer a small mirror, mini tweezers, mini brow brush and brow color all in a convenient compact.

on 11/22/2005 Take an liner that matches the color of your eyebrows. Very lightly, outline your eyebrow. Using very light strokes, fill in the areas that are sparse. With an old mascara brush or eyebrow brush-comb, brush through the eyebrow so the liner blends thoroughly. Keep brushing until everything blends naturally together.

on 11/22/2005 Hair spray isn't just useful for keeping your hair in place, it also works for your brows. Take your eyebrow brush and spray hair spray on it, then while the brush is still wet, comb your eyebrows.

on 11/22/2005 To keep your eyebrows neat throughout the day, just squeeze a little Aloe Vera gel onto your index finger and apply it to the eyebrows. This works like a charm.

on 11/22/2005 Instead of purchasing one of those cute eyebrow brushes at the cosmetic counter, just grab a cheap toothbrush from the toothbrush aisle; it works just as well if not better.

on 11/22/2005 Use an eyebrow brush/comb to comb the hair straight up. Use small scissors (ie, mustache triimmers) to trim stray hairs from the top. Then brush brows downward & trim the excess hairs from the bottom. This creates a neater look & makes hair stay in place.

on 11/22/2005 I use my chapstick to keep my eyebrows in place. I always have it on me, and as long as you don't use too much, it looks natural and gives great definition. I also use it to keep my cuticles soft.

on 4/13/2007 My eyebrows needed a lot of help, so I grew them out for a month then made an appointment at a place that shapes them. It cost $20 and I watched the whole time and took notes on what she was doing. Then I went to a drug store to check out the makeup and I found an eye brow kit that has color powder, wax, a brush and small tweezers, and it cost less than $4! It helped so much, and my eyebrows look much better now.

on 4/3/2006 You can also dye your eyebrows to match your hair (if you dye you hair and your eyebrows are too light). It works with hair dye, but even better to use is special eyebrow and eyelash dye which is available at the chemist. Choose either black or brown depending on the color of your hair. Apply the dye sparingly with a cotton-bud and try to keep it away from your skin (i.e. apply against growth-direction, so the hairs are sticking up and away from skin). Dye on your skin needs to be removed with water immediately.
Be careful not to leave it on too long. It is better to wash the dye off too soon and re-apply it a few times than having eyelashes that look too dark! Sometimes it is enough to leave the dye on for only a few seconds.

on 11/22/2005 For sparse & light brows, darken them by applying a coat of clear mascara. Then using a small eyebrow brush dipped in gray/black/brown (your choice)eye shadow, slowly apply & powder in like you would w/ a pencil for a more natural look.

on 3/29/2006 To fill in your eyebrows, get a brown eyeliner, it works best with darker hair colors. You can either trace around your eyebrows if they're not in all over, or if in one spot is bald, then just put the eyeliner on it. Then, smudge. If you think it's too dark, keep smudging or wipe it off a little.

on 11/22/2005 Using mascara on eyebrows looks so natural. It's hard to tell you've done anything extra to make them look full.
If the tube still has plenty of mascara in it, wipe the wand with a piece of folded paper, so it's almost dry. Then brush through your eyebrows. A practically empty tube is perfect. Then, it's not necessary to prep the wand.

on 11/22/2005 It's simple. Take a liner pencil that matches your brow and very lightly outline them. Take your index fingers and smear them in the natural shape of your eyebrows and in an outwardly direction. It gives a nice, natural look to your brows and makes untweezed eyebrows look better.

on 11/22/2005 If you have troubles filling in your eyebrows using an eyebrow pencil... this is an easy way to do it so they don't look artificial.
- hold the pencil up vertically
- using a feather-lite touch so that the pencil is not against the skin, stroke from outside to inside (yes, backwards).

Repeat until satisfied.

on 11/22/2005 My hair is colored dark, so my brows are practically non-existent. To give the appearance of naturally dark brows, I use an older mascara (so it's not goopy) in black/brown or brown on my brows. Works and looks great!
