1
Select a brow filler that's a shade or two lighter than your hair.
-
2
Begin with freshly plucked or waxed brows.
-
3
Stroke a thicker brow with a sharp eyebrow pencil using light, feathery strokes, adding color to thinner areas.
-
4
Define thin brows with a brow powder. Use a flat angled brow brush and color over the natural shape of the brow. Apply to the outer edges first, then move to the area closer to the nose.
-
5
Groom your brows with a clean mascara brush or similar tool. Move loose hairs into place and blend color for a more natural appearance.
-
6
Use a brow powder with a waxy base to keep hairs in place throughout the course of the day. Or use a very small amount of brow gel or alcohol-free hair gel on the brush when grooming your brows.

My eyebrows needed a lot of help, so I grew them out for a month then made an appointment at a place that shapes them. It cost $20 and I watched the whole time and took notes on what she was doing. Then I went to a drug store to check out the makeup and I found an eye brow kit that has color powder, wax, a brush and small tweezers, and it cost less than $4! It helped so much, and my eyebrows look much better now. -

Do not: Use regular hair dye at home to dye eyebrows and lashes. There are even warnings on the boxes that is may cause blindness. Outline your brows then color in- this results in a hard harsh look only appropriate for an old alcoholic stuck to a barstool at the local ice house. Use colored mascaras on eyebrows- you may think this looks good-from the perspective of others this just looks strange. Do: Try to create a soft but more refined eyebrow shape, style and color. Use a flat tipped eyebrow brush to apply a powder eyebrow color. The selection of the shade of eyebrow is very important, take great care in selecting the best and most appropriate shade for you, this may well be the very most important shade selection in all of your cosmetics to determine the impression you give to others. Be willing to spend more for this one, it is well worth the expense. Choose a slightly more ash shade than your eyebrow shade to fill in the shadows beneath the hairs of your eyebrow. Choose a slightly lighter shade of eyebrow powder than your own eyebrow hair shade to create a flattering frame to your eye. Use light fine brush strokes to imitate the individual fine hairs. Only apply color after the eyebrows themselves have been properly groomed- whether arched, plucked, waxed, or trimmed or all of the above- (no point in putting paint on a ragged house). If you wish to use a grooming gel- you could use: Clear mascara. A bit of either hairspay or hair gel applied with a cotton swab or a special toothbrush reserved just for eyebrow grooming. A bit of waxy Chapstick (very much like mustache wax used for grooming mustaches). -

You can also dye your eyebrows to match your hair (if you dye you hair and your eyebrows are too light). It works with hair dye, but even better to use is special eyebrow and eyelash dye which is available at the chemist. Choose either black or brown depending on the color of your hair. Apply the dye sparingly with a cotton-bud and try to keep it away from your skin (i.e. apply against growth-direction, so the hairs are sticking up and away from skin). Dye on your skin needs to be removed with water immediately. Be careful not to leave it on too long. It is better to wash the dye off too soon and re-apply it a few times than having eyelashes that look too dark! Sometimes it is enough to leave the dye on for only a few seconds. -
