This old standby is so popular that the glass that holds it bears the collins name. Serves one.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tsp. sugars
  • liquor
  • 1 oz. lemon juices
  • cocktail shaker
  • cocktail strainer
  • 2 oz. gin
  • club sodas
  • collins glasses
  • orange wedges
  • Club Sodas
  • Liquor
  • Orange Wedges
  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Cocktail Strainer
  • Collins Glasses
  • Collins glasses
  • 1 oz. lemon juices
  • 1 tsp. sugars
  • 2 oz. gin
  1. Step 1
     

    Fill a cocktail shaker with cracked ice.

  2. Step 2

    Add gin, lemon juice and sugar.

  3. Step 3

    Shake five times.

  4. Step 4

    Strain over three ice cubes into a chilled collins glass.

  5. Step 5
     

    Fill with club soda.

  6. Step 6
     

    Stir once.

  7. Step 7
     

    Garnish with an orange wedge.

Tips & Warnings
  • Mixed drinks contain alcohol, so use moderation.
  • Never drink and drive.

on 9/2/2006 The traditional Tom Collins is only poured into a Collins glass, filled with an ounce of gin, then with equal parts of sweet 'n sour and soda, then garnished with a cherry. By terms, this drink turns into a gin fizz when you shake it.
