How to Make an Iced Americano

A caffe americano is espresso with (usually hot) water. An iced americano is a cooling treat that doesn't require the chilling time you need for iced coffee. Serves one.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • cold water
  • sugar or milk (optional)
  • ice cubes
  • tall glass
  • one shot of espressos
  • One Shot Of Espressos
  • Ice cubes
  • Tall Glass
  • Cold Water
  • Sugar Or Milk (optional)
  1. Step 1

    Make one 1 1/2 oz. shot of espresso. (See "How to Make an Espresso" in Related eHows for instructions.)

  2. Step 2
     

    Fill 10-oz glass with ice cubes.

  3. Step 3
     

    Pour the espresso over ice.

  4. Step 4
     

    Fill glass with cold water and stir mixture to equalize temperature.

  5. Step 5
     

    Sweeten to taste or serve with milk.

on 10/5/2007 If you start with a full glass of ice like the post suggests, you should be left with slightly more than half a glass of ice once everything has settled. A single espresso is only around 1.5 oz. so you really shouldn't have much melting.

on 7/23/2006 I've found that if you pour the shots into cold water first, then add ice, less ice melts.
