How to Make an Iced Americano

A caffe americano is espresso with (usually hot) water. An iced americano is a cooling treat that doesn't require the chilling time you need for iced coffee. Serves one. Does this Spark an idea?

  • ice cubes
  • tall glass
  • one shot of espressos

Instructions

      Make one 1 1/2 oz. shot of espresso. (See "How to Make an Espresso" in Related eHows for instructions.)

      Fill 10-oz glass with ice cubes.

      Pour the espresso over ice.

      Fill glass with cold water and stir mixture to equalize temperature.

      Sweeten to taste or serve with milk.

    If you start with a full glass of ice like the post suggests, you should be left with slightly more than half a glass of ice once everything has settled. A single espresso is only around 1.5 oz. so you really shouldn't have much melting.

    I've found that if you pour the shots into cold water first, then add ice, less ice melts.
